Welcome to Foundation

Starting school is an exciting milestone for children and their families. At Thomastown Meadows Primary School, we work closely with families and kindergartens to ensure every child experiences a smooth and successful transition to school.

 

Foundation (Prep) Enrolment Timeline 2027

Step 1: Check Eligibility
Children must turn 5 years old by 30 April 2027 to begin Foundation (Prep) in 2027.

 

Step 2: Find Your School
Use the Find My School website to identify your local school and other nearby government schools.

 

Step 3: Book a School Tour
Visit our school to learn about our programs, facilities and enrolment process.

Step 4: Collect an Enrolment Form
Download the Foundation (Prep) Enrolment Information Pack for Parents and Carers or collect a hard copy from our school office. For further information on Enrolling, visit the Victorian Government Schools website - Enrolling in Schools 

 

Step 5: Submit Your Application

Applications close: Friday 24 July 2026

 

Step 6: Receive Your Outcome
Families will be notified of enrolment outcomes between:  24 July – 7 August 2026

 

Step 7: Accept Your Offer
Offer acceptance deadline: Friday 21 August 2026

 

Step 8: Attend PREParing for School Sessions
During Term 3, children participate in:

Session 1: Storytime

Session 2: The Arts - Make, Draw and Create Dance and Mime 

Session 3: STEAM - Exploring Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths 

Session 4: Physical Education and Perceptual Motor Program

 

Step 9: Attend Kinder to Foundation Transition Sessions

During Term 4, children enrolled at our school, participate in 5 sessions across 5 weeks.

Each session running for approximately 2 hours.

Children will participate in a range of activities, including fine motor skills, literacy, maths, social interactions, exploring learning spaces, school routines and expectations. Participating in our transition program, supports children to adjust more easily, feel confident, and enjoy a positive start to their schooling journey.

 

Step 10: Attend Parent Information Evening

At the end of the transition program, a Parent Information Evening is held.

This session provides parents and carers with, key information about the school, Important dates for the school year and tips to support their child’s learning and wellbeing. 

Transition session times and the Parent Information Night date are shared in Term 3 of each year.

 

Step 11: Welcome to Thomastown Meadows Primary School! 

Ready to begin Foundation (Prep) in 2027
