Our Whole School Community TreeOur Whole School Community Tree was inspired by an idea developed by our Year 4/5 Wellbeing Action Team in 2025 as a symbol of unity, belonging and connection within the TMPS community. Every student and staff member contributed a painted handprint using their house colours to help create the tree’s branches and leaves. Members of our parent community were also invited to add their handprints using our school value colours, further strengthening the sense of partnership and connection across our school community. Proudly displayed in our office hallway, the mural represents the important role every individual plays in helping our school community grow, thrive and support one another. In 2026, new members of our school community added their handprints to the tree, continuing the tradition of connection and belonging. Each year, our new Foundation students will also contribute their handprints, ensuring the tree continues to grow alongside our school community for years to come. |
The Story Of Our OwlThomastown Meadows Primary School’s Wise, Old Owl was created as a result of a competition initiated by our school's Mothers’ Group in 1980. The idea behind the Owl, was to encourage and motivate despondent children who for most of the year were “Claytons”. Thomastown Meadows Primary School students, housed in temporary portables at the back of Thomaston West. The children were asked to design a logo for “their new school” and all members of our community; students, staff and school council members voted. The winner of this process became our Wise, Old Owl. Today the Owl represents our motto of ‘Learning for Life’. An owl is a symbol of wisdom and knowledge. It’s related to mental transformation and maturity and since our vision is directly linked to learning; at Thomastown Meadows Primary School we want our students to believe in their potential to achieve optimal learning and have the positive mindset of taking risks and being happy, active, engaged learners everyday they are a part of our school community. |

Our Community Mural ProjectTMPS proudly brought our school community together through a vibrant mural project led by local artist Hayden Dewar. Located on the facing walls between Rooms 6 and 7, overlooking the oval, the mural celebrates our diverse community’s connection to Australian native flora and fauna. Inspired by the local Merri Creek environment, native birdlife and nature play, the artwork also incorporates symbols representing our school values and house teams. Complementing our whole-school focus on We Belong, the project provided students with opportunities to contribute ideas, learn about the artist’s creative process and observe the mural taking shape. Selected students from Years 3–4 and Years 5–6 also worked alongside Hayden, strengthening their sense of belonging and connection to the TMPS community.
