Student Leaders

Student Leadership

At Thomastown Meadows Primary School, we believe that when young people find their voice in a supportive environment, they develop confidence, leadership skills, and the ability to positively influence the world around them. By empowering students, we strengthen engagement and encourage active participation in the classroom, the school, and the wider community. This helps students take ownership of their learning while contributing to a positive and inclusive school culture.

Student voice is a key component of the Education State vision. The Framework for Improving Student Outcomes encourages schools to make student voice a priority and to empower students to fully and proudly participate in school life. Student voice acknowledges that students have unique perspectives on learning, teaching, and schooling, and should have meaningful opportunities to actively shape their own education.

We are committed to ensuring all students experience high-quality teaching and the best conditions for learning—equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed for lifelong learning and active citizenship.

Student Leaders

Our student leaders are proudly identified by their Student Leader badges, symbolising their commitment to representing their peers and contributing positively to our school community. In 2026, Thomastown Meadows Primary School will be represented by six School Captains, who will lead student initiatives, model our school values, and support whole-school events.

Student Representative Council (SRC)

The Student Representative Council (SRC) plays a vital role in supporting student voice across the school. The SRC represents the student body and provides students with a genuine say in school development and decision-making. Each class from Years 3–6 elects two representatives who meet regularly to discuss ideas, share feedback, and contribute to school improvement initiatives. SRC members are also encouraged to seek input from and communicate with Prep–Year 2 classes, ensuring that even our youngest learners have the opportunity to be heard and involved.
