Homework is an important part of your child's learning. It gives them a chance to:
work through the things they have learnt at school
Strengthens their long-term understanding of the topic or activity
Homework helps your child to develop study skills that they will use for the rest of their life. Homework is also a chance for you to get involved and help and in your child’s learning.
As part of a comprehensive and balanced curriculum within Victorian schools, homework is one way of supporting and fostering life-long learning and connecting families with the learning of their children.
It is important for children to have a balanced lifestyle which includes sufficient time for family, sport and recreation as well as cultural pursuits.
Homework provides opportunities to practice skills learned in their classroom. Parents can support their child by developing a positive approach to homework, reading with them, talking with them and involving them in learning opportunities during everyday household routines.
Teachers have set tasks for your child that they may complete at home. The homework activities that are set are related to what is being taught in the classroom. Additional homework tasks may be arranged by the classroom teacher as well as listed on the school website.
