At Thomastown Meadows Primary School, we believe in celebrating student success, effort and positive contributions to our school community. Through a range of awards and acknowledgements, students are recognised for demonstrating our school values of honesty, empathy and respect, showing persistence in their learning and making positive choices both inside and outside the classroom.
Our award programs help foster confidence, motivation and a positive school culture where every student is encouraged to strive for personal growth and success.
Weekly Awards
Every fortnight, classroom teachers present two student awards during our Friday school assemblies as part of our commitment to recognising and celebrating student success. Research shows that meaningful recognition and positive reinforcement can motivate students to strive for excellence, strengthen engagement and encourage positive learning behaviours.
One award recognises a student who has consistently demonstrated our school values of honesty, empathy and respect, while the second award celebrates a student who has demonstrated outstanding learning growth, persistence and academic effort. These awards aim to acknowledge not only achievement, but also the attitudes, behaviours and habits that contribute to success.
Parents and families of award recipients are invited by classroom teachers to attend the assembly and share in celebrating their child’s achievements, helping to strengthen the partnership between home and school.
Specialist teachers also play an important role in recognising student success by selecting one class that has demonstrated outstanding learning, teamwork or positive examples of our school values during specialist sessions. Through consistent and authentic recognition, we aim to build a positive school culture where effort, growth and positive contributions are valued and celebrated across the TMPS community.
Special Achievement Awards
At the conclusion of each school year, Thomastown Meadows Primary School proudly hosts a Special Achievement Awards Ceremony to celebrate and recognise students who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to learning, outstanding personal growth and meaningful contributions to the TMPS community.
These prestigious awards acknowledge students who consistently uphold our school values through their actions, attitudes and behaviour. Recipients are recognised as role models who demonstrate persistence, resilience, strong work ethic, moral integrity and a commitment to striving for excellence in all aspects of school life.
Special Achievement Award recipients are presented with a trophy and certificate in front of the entire school community, providing an opportunity to publicly celebrate their dedication, achievements and positive influence on others.
These awards are more than recognition of academic success alone; they honour students who consistently demonstrate leadership, compassion, responsibility and a commitment to ongoing improvement. Through celebrating these achievements, TMPS reinforces the importance of perseverance, positive character and high expectations, inspiring all students to aim high and contribute positively to our school community.
Positive Behaviour Awards
Teachers regularly acknowledge students through Positive Behaviour Chronicles on Compass. These chronicles recognise excellence in learning and positive demonstrations of our school values of honesty, empathy and respect.
Positive Behaviour Chronicles provide an important opportunity for teachers to celebrate student success and communicate positive achievements directly with families.
